The Hollywood Reporter lets us know that 2 Fast 2 Furious and Flight of the Phoenix star, Tyrese, is signed on for Waist Deep at Focus Features for helmer Vondie Curtis-Hall who will be directing his own script.

The film finds the buffed up playboy as an ex-convict who gets caught up in gang violence and turmoil after his car is hijacked with his son inside. He manages to outsmart the gang leaders with the help of a young woman.

Tyrese's schedule has gotten quite busy as of late considering he has shown a modest amount of acting chops in his outings. He is currently set to star in Four Brothers along with Mark Wahlberg, Andre 3000 and Garrett Hedlund. He will also be seen in the Disney drama Annapolis, which finished filming last year.
