'Transformers 3' Gets an Official Release Date and 'Thor' Gets Moved Again

Well, it appears the kid movies are set for the next few years

With Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen just over three months away Paramount and DreamWorks have officially announced a July 1, 2011 release date for Transformers 3 but there is no confirmation as of yet as to whether or not Michael Bay will be directing or if Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox are guaranteed to be in the film.

I can only assume this is simply part of a growing trend for studios to secure future release dates for their films as blockbuster weekends are being set several years in advance. As it stands right now The Avengers is the furthest the RopeofSilicon release calender goes with its May 4, 2012 release date, and it too is a Paramount release.

This latest news also confirms Paramount and Marvel have once again moved Thor from June 16, 2011 to May 20, 2011, two weeks after Columbia's Spider-Man 4.

Okay, I'm so tired of studios announcing films over 3 years in advance! My god! Who the hell really cares about the release dates of Shrek 5, Spider-Man 5 or anything else. Let me worry/anticipate one film – maybe two at a time.

Quite frankly, all this stuff is a lotta hooie!
