'Transformers 3' and 'Indiana Jones 5' to 'Lincoln', Spielberg's Name is Everywhere

Robert Downey Jr. for 'Harvey' and warm wishes for Redford

Steven Spielberg's name was attached to no less than four different films in the past 24 hours ranging from awards fodder such as Harvey and Lincoln to Michael Bay fodder such as Transformers 3, and the nightmare scenario of a potential Indiana Jones 5, even though we all secretly want that one to happen.

First off, Peter Bart is reporting at Variety Spielberg is said to be interested in Robert Downey Jr. for the lead role in his Harvey remake. How interested you ask? Well, the word "possibly" is used. Yeah, big stuff!

The same article also tells us Spielberg is still hot on making Lincoln despite the fact Robert Redford is moving forward with The Conspirator, the story of Mary Surratt, the alleged conspirator of Abraham Lincoln assassin John Wilkes Booth. Just yesterday it was announced Robin Wright Penn would play Surratt with James McAvoy playing Frederick Aiken, the lawyer who took up her case.

Bart says Spielberg's take on the Lincoln story was postponed recently by budget and location problems, which may have been as far back as February, when it was rumored Spielberg was hoping to get started on the film for a December release. That obviously didn't happen, but Spielberg tells Bart, "We are very happy that Redford will be doing this Lincoln movie. It is completely different from what our DreamWorks Lincoln movie will be and we believe that it will add to the commercial potential of our film. Lincoln as a subject is inexhaustible."

Redford's Conspirator will start shooting next month with independent financing.

Keeping on the Spielberg theme for a little while longer we move into Indiana Jones territory with news first coming from French site Tout Le Cine in which translated text tells us Harrison Ford said something along the lines of, "The story for the new Indiana Jones is in the process of taking form. Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and myself are agreed on what the fifth adventure will concern, and George is actively at work. If the script is good, I'll be very happy to put the costume on again."

Meanwhile, Slash Film posted the video you see to the right of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull star Karen Allen talking about the project and saying — as she understands it — the film is due in 2012.

Next we move to good ol' Michael Bay whose website posted another bit of news and instead of slamming Megan Fox or taking back Megan Fox slams they posted some actual relevant info.

Bay will be meeting with Spielberg and Ehren Kruger (The Ring and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) to discuss ideas for Transformers 3 and by the end of the week he should have an idea if Transformers 3 will hit your local cineplex in the summer of 2011 or 2012. On top of this they say Pain & Gain and/or Bad Boys 3 are also in the works.
