Trailer for Roland Emmerich's '2012' Crashes the Net

This one has potential...

I am not much of a fan of Roland "End of Days" Emmerich, but if he makes 2012 without sticking to his typical style of corny characters and even cornier dialogue it really has a shot of being good based on the premise, which mixes in the idea of the Mayan calendar, which predicts the world ending in 2012, with natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions, typhoons and glaciers plaguing the planet and a large cast of characters dealing with the mayhem.

The first trailer has just arrived and you can watch it below or over at Moviefone in high definition, but it creates a very cool premise where the leaders of our world may know a major disaster is coming, but wouldn't tell anyone about it because there is nothing that can be done.

Give it a watch below, 2012 hits theaters on July 10 and stars John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Danny Glover, Thandie Newton, Oliver Platt, Amanda Peet and Woody Harrelson.

What in the heck makes you think this will be any different from his last couple of movies? Big budget over the top CGI VFX is what this looks like it is all about, based on this anyway. And I doubt that will change.

Ha, nothing makes me think it will be any different, but I am just keeping hope alive! In all honesty, had I not known it was directed by Emmerich I would be extremely excited.

I dunno the trailer looks like it sticks to Emmeriches routine….Cut an awsome teaser trailer, get everyone stoked, then when the movie comes out you get some really badly written diologue and acting. I can see every member of this cast delivering the corny lines. Another example of a trailer that got me stoked for a movie I ended up hating by roland, looks awfully familier to this new one….http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Au0hfbZqtzI.

P.S. I do have hope for this haha

May I (possibly) be the very first to point out that the music in this trailer is the exact same music for the blood elevator teaser trailer for the SHINING. Cheers. Doc

The special effects look very good and it looks scary in a way but who do they think will actually see this?

It is coming out 7 months after The Day The Earth Stood Still and has a cast full of B-List stars.

John Cusack-hasn't had a hit since Being John Malkovich….
Danny Glover-Developed quite a lisp (anyone seen Shooter LOL!!) and hasn't helmed a movie since the Lethal Weapon Series
Thandie Newton-She was hot in M:I II but is kinda disgusting now.
Woody Harrelson- It's been a long time since Natural Born Killers…i think he's washed up.Chiwetel Ejiofor- And here I thought he was on a good career path.

There is still hope (Emmerich did direct The Patriot and Independence Day) but don't hold your breath.

I have a feeling it will tank at the box office.

Looks a cool trailer but they always do its the final cut that counts and i hope its not going to be as bad as 10,000bc (you know all that Apocalypto copying nonsence, it was the exact same as apocalypto but with 7ft man eating birds, sabre tooth tigers ect and nowhere near as good lol).

PLEASE ROLAND DELIVER THIS TIME, PPPLLEEEAASSSEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

The storyline however is unique, you know we may, just may see what the end of the world would look like and that aint never been done in cinema (Well not to my knowledge anyways). The Effects WILL be awesome though, no doubt about that as its got a $200 million budget and from the look of this teaser im gettin exited about it now, like I was before ID4 came out

ok so here is the deal for whoever say the trailor and is reading this. Dec 21 2012 is pretty legit, a lot of ancient civilizations have marked this date in the future on their calendars. If you don't believe me then Google it, I'm sure you'll find everything you need to know. Second, the mayans were one of the main civilizations who knew about this date and if I recall they disappeared as a civilization and no one knows why. Third, I'd just like to add my birthday is dec 21!! cheers, i do have faith and always keep a positive mind!!
