Trailer for Herzog's 'Bad Lieutenant' Arrives

Hitting theaters this November

Yahoo has debuted the trailer for Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans starring Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes and serving as something of an unofficial remake of Abel Ferrara's 1992 gritty thriller starring Harvey Keitel, a film of which Herzog has gone on record saying he has never seen.

Herzog's tale centers on Cage who plays a rogue detective as devoted to his job as he is at scoring drugs. He wields his badge as often as he wields his gun in order to get his way. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina he becomes a high-functioning addict who is a deeply intuitive, fearless detective reigning over the beautiful ruins of New Orleans with authority and abandon.

First Look Pictures snatched up the film for limited release on November 20 and expanding on December 4. You can check out the trailer directly below and click here for more on the film.

WOW! I had no expecatations for this movie but some gritty scenes everywhere…could be a close attempt to the style of training day and cage looks legit for once

Please film gods, forgive me for ever doubting the genius of Herzog.

This looks awesome. I'm going to venture to say it could be considerably better than the Keitel "Bad Lieutenant" (which, to be honest, was a bit of a disappointment for me). And Nicholas Cage is finally being tagged as "Academy Award winner" again. :)

is he supposed to be a good guy turned bad i can't tell anyway it looks great and nic cage is finally doing something that doesn't involve flaming skulls on motorcycles or guinea pigs and something the critics won't completley slam i mean did you see wicker man he is much better than that but he's back on the right track keep it up nic
