Trailer and New Pics Debut for Greengrass' 'Green Zone'

Can you still be an Oscar contender with a March 2010 release date?

Yahoo has debuted the first look trailer at Green Zone, a film set in the chaotic early days of the Iraqi War when no one could be trusted and every decision could detonate unforeseen consequences.

The film was previously considered to be a potential Oscar contender until it was moved to March 12, 2010, which means it will be looking at the 2011 Oscars for any award love, but it first has the "I don't want to watch a war movie" audience to contend with.

Green Zone reteams director Paul Greengrass with his Jason Bourne franchise star Matt Damon who plays Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller as he leads his team of Army inspectors to find weapons of mass destruction believed to be stockpiled in the Iraqi desert. The thriller also stars Amy Ryan, Greg Kinnear, Antoni Corone and Nicoye Banks.

You can watch the trailer directly below or in high definition right here. You can also browse our photo gallery for the film, which includes two new images, right here.

It felt like I was watching a Bourne trailer. Not so much because of the two (Matt & Paul).
I think this fell under the editor of the trailer. It even ended the same way as Bourne Ultimatum's Trailer did; with him walking away.

Not sure if that was a good thing or not.

Definitely doesn't seem like an oscar contendor, but could be a good, entertaining thriller.

Who cares whether or not it's an Oscar contender, this looks entertaining as hell.

I'm thinking "Alice in Wonderland" will NOT be doing a repeat at the top of the box office.

Evil Greg Kinnear, eh…?

Looking forward to it, but this is not Oscar bait in the slightest. I don't expect to see it or Shutter Island at the 2011 Oscars.

Who needs Bourne 4 when (by the looks of the trailer) this is essentially Jason Bourne let loose in Iraq. The Ultimatum similarities are inevitable but the trailer was amazing, I'm very excited.

After seeing the trailer for Invictus, I was completely stoked about watching the trailer for another Paul Greenglass film; however, I must admit, I was disappointed.

After watching the last Bourne film and after seeing how poetically Mr. Greenglass handled United 93, I was excited about the prospect of seeing a studious, timely, and yes, action packed (though more along the lines of Saving Private Ryan or Black Hawk Down) film about the war in Iraq.

Instead of getting a Black Hawk Down or Generation Kill-style, intelligent film about this terrible conflict, what did I get? Jason Bourne in Iraq. Not-interested.

ok im gonna have to disagree here, it doesn't look that much like Bourne to me, just coz its got damon with a hand gun doesnt necessarily mean that it will be…. with that said its a bit premature to judge it for its value from a trailer, you cant really feel a thriller from a trailer, its not like with the trailer for avatar.

It's not the "I don't want to watch a war movie" audience — it's the "I don't want to watch another BS leftist Hollywood propaganda movie" audience.
