Trailer and Distributor for 'Boondock Saints II'

I am sure some of you are interested... right?

The trailer for Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day has arrived online courtesy of IGN and news has also surfaced that Apparition will be the distributor of the film when it hits theaters on October 30. I had previously heard the date was going to be November 1 to correspond with the actual All Saints' Day, but a Sunday release doesn't really make a lot of sense. Then again, I am sure there are many that would say making a sequel to the original film — which I have no love for whatsoever — doesn't make a lot of sense, but that's the biz for you.

Apparition has started off with a curious slate of films beginning with Jane Campion's period piece Bright Star, the Blaxploitation feature Black Dynamite and now a sequel to a DVD cult hit. Not sure what their angle is, but they seem to have filled a gap.

The film is a continuation of writer/director Troy Duffy's 2000 tale of the vigilante MacManus brothers (Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery) following the brothers who come out of hiding to avenge a beloved priest who was hit by the Mob. Clifton Collins and Julie Benz join the ensemble.

You can watch the trailer directly below, and thanks to Anne Thompson for the news of the Apparition acquisition.

Looks just as atrocious as the original. Maybe even more so.

Looks like a pastiche of every action I've seen over the last ten years, but that's hardly surprising since the first film was a pastiche of every post-Pulp-Fiction knockoff I'd seen too.

I always find it funny when people that "hate" a movie seem to spend more time reading up on and commenting on it than anybody else. Don't like it, don't watch it.

I for one can't wait, although I know it won't be as good as the first because of the anticipation, I think it will be a decent sequel.

I was lucky enough to catch a prerelease showing of this film back in June. Although certain sequences were not finished and on a blue screen, I found myself enjoying much more than not. My only complaint would be the return of the cops sans Willem Defoe. Every scene with them is pure torture, and when the time came for me to fill out the form saying what ididn't like, I wrote an essay dedicated to why the cops should be cut from the film. It was alot of fun, and even some old characters make a return (Rocco! But don't worry he hasn't risen from the dead). I loved the first Boondock Saints, regardless of it's moments of retardation, and although the retardation has spread to 10% of the sequel, it was enough fun to keep me interested, laughing, and occaisionally spellbound by its beauty.
