I admit Hayden Christensen and Swayze in Point Break push the definition of a mullet somewhat (although Darth's helmet is definitely a plastic-molded mullet). However, I believe what separates long hair from a mullet is whether or not the front bangs can be pulled back along with rest of the hair into one collective pony tail. Hayden's hair seems too short on top to do so. And while that picture of The Swayze from Point Break looks like he has longer hair on top, there are several scenes in the movie (usually when his hair is wet) in which the top of his hair looks much shorter.

However, I think if you search the web, there's a general agreement that Gibson definitely has a mullet in Lethal Weapon.

And anyone who doesn't think Bowie is sporting a mullet as The Goblin King is just kidding themselves.

Yeah, agree there, though it doesnt necessarily shoulder length. Some of those are just dudes with long hair and shorter bangs...

STLB, Short Top, Long Back, not short front.... Mel's hair is pushing the mullet boundary, but Hayden is safe, for instance...

Bowies though Id call a mullet...theres a pretty big difference in length from top to back/sides...

What an odd thing to debate... :)

As a man who has worn many a mullet in my younger days and living in an area of Indiana still populated by morons still wearing this abortion of a hairstyle, I must say that some of these are NOT MULLETS!! The definition of a mullet is at least shoulder length hair in the back and a decided decrease in length on top. Hence the phrase "All business up top, party in the back".The guy from the kong movie does not appear to be wearing a mullet, at least in this shot, I have not seen the movie. Christiensen, while possibly the worst actor ever, is not sporting the do. That's just medium length long hair. Bowie's hair, while definitely the most interesting, is not mullet potential. Finally, we get to the Swayze. The photo to the far right is a mullet, but come on, his hair from point break is not a mullet. That's just the coolest hair ever.
Now that thing that Keifer Southerland is wearing, THAT'S a mullet.

The only thing I would say against Spade's mullet in Joe Dirt is that it was meant for comedic effect, all of the mullets David lists are actually a product of the time and meant for something of a cool/stylish factor.
