Making a top ten list is typically not the hardest task in the world for me, but 2007 was an extraordinary year in film, so much so that the majority of critics' circle top ten lists all have varying winners in their respective categories. Most years I am also not torn in what movies to include and what to leave just on the outside. There was the decision on whether the more cerebral films were worthy of being called the best of the year or if the more overall entertaining films would make the list. As you are sure to notice entertainment ultimately outweighed cerebral as films like There Will be Blood, No Country for Old Men and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly are left to receive Honorable Mentions.
However, I am fully confident in the ten films I have named to the RopeofSilicon Best Movies of 2007 list as they are all films I am sure to watch over and over again no matter my mood, each of these films is 100-percent entertaining and each of them in their own unique way. First, for the complete list of Honorable Mentions...
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Stardust, There Will be Blood, No Country for Old Men, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, The Kingdom, Eastern Promises, Ratatouille, The Kite Runner, Bridge to Terabithia and Charlie Wilson's War

I guess a lot of people go to movies that move them emotionally, make them cry, examine a moral dilemma, etc. I know a lot of people who like movies that make some sort of intellectual point. I don't know if they really like them, of if they just think it makes them look like a serious student of film.
Frankly, I deal with enough serious issues in my life. I wanna see 'em blow shit up! On that, Bourne delivers.
I didn't get to see very many movies in 2007. Some of your list didn't even have showings where I live. I guess this is a good start on my netflix for the next few months.
Thanks for a great year of news and opinions!

2) Gone, Baby, Gone- I couldn't stop thinking about it. I hope Ben Affleck NEVER acts again and concentrates in directing instead.
3) Michael Clayton
4) Juno
5) 3:10 to Yuma (Ben Foster was magnificent)
6) Knocked Up
7) Into the Wild
8) Atonement
9) Superbad
10) The Orphanage
