It was SO noticeable--he sounded like he was from L.A. And even people in Los Angeles during the early to mid 1940's didn't sounds like that. All across the board, it didn't fit. The British accents seemed to work okay, but his voice really stuck out. Honestly, so much so that I couldn't get it out of my mind during the entire movie. It wasn't a bad movie otherwise, but I think they should've just gotten another actor to play the role- probably a British one. Yeah, the accent thing is extremely weird, which is why I think Cruise was a bad choice for this film. As much as I like Cruise as an actor, he is an All-American style actor and had he even tried an accent I really think it would have thrown me off.
