Wtf ?! How can speed racer be in there and The Dark Knight left out !?

What a terrible Top 10 List. Looks like Richard Corliss probably didn't even see a ton of movies that came out this year. This is the best TIME magazine has to offer? What a joke.

Speed Racer on that list is ridiculous.

Richard Corliss is a terrible critic. I stopped trusting him quite a while ago.

In Speed Racer's defense, I'd put it in my top ten. And I was Time magazine's person of the year in 2006.

Absoluterly ridiculous, I just can't agree with anyone who leaves Dark Knight out of 2008's top 10, and includes the extremely poor Speed Racer.

In Speed Racers defense it was an awesome movie and I thank Time for adding my all time favorite movie to it top ten of 2008 list. Most people who seen Speed could not get past its vibrant colors. When i saw that movie I was rather disappointed that real life wasn't as colorful.

@Micheal Russell: To be honest, I was actually more turned off by the constant cliffhangers and changes of direction. I felt the movie could have ended after the first big race, but no, there was more. It wasn't needed at all. Perhaps if they picked just one.

The vibrant colors was actually what turned me on to the film.

The Dark Knight was like every other action movie every other summer. (Better, perhaps, but not different.)

Speed Racer is insane and unpopular, but I think it's brilliant.

Very interesting list, although a few glaring omissions—and I was under the impression that 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days was actually a 2007 release. Sometimes I suspect these lists are compiled simply to sell magazines. Goodness knows print media publishers can use all the help they can get. Also, why don't they just give Sean Penn the Oscar for his role in 'Milk' now? It's almost as bad as last year with Javier Bardem and Daniel Day Lewis. It takes all the fun and speculation away when the pundits practically choose the winners even before the nominations are announced.
