Timberlake, Aykroyd and Faris Set to Voice 'Yogi Bear'

Perhaps you thought it wouldn't happen... I didn't...

For some reason I get these crazy thoughts in my head that some of these needless movies will just get announced in the trades and will ultimately be forgotten. Sometimes that's the case and other times… well, not so much, and not so much is the case today as Entertainment Weekly reports the animated feature film Yogi Bear is moving forward at Warner Bros. with Journey to the Center of the Earth helmer, Eric Brevig, directing. The big news today, however, is the folks that will be voicing the picnic-basket loving bear and his cohorts.

It seems Dan Aykroyd is in negotiations to voice the CG-animated Yogi while Justin Timberlake is in talks to voice Boo-Boo while Anna Faris will voice Rachel, a nature documentary filmmaker shooting Yogi and Boo-Boo for her next project.

The film is set to begin filming in Auckland, New Zealand next month from a script by Brad Copeland (Wild Hogs).

Yogi Bear is already slated for a December 17, 2010 release.

I'm confused… is this a fully animated project, or something like the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie/Garfield movies?

@AJ: I will take the blame for not being more clear. It's like Alvin and the Chipmunks and Garfield where it will be live-action/CGI animation mix. Faris will be a live-action character.

To paraphrase Jack Hawkins in Zulu…

"We're all going to die!"

Seriously now. This takes the cake for the worst idea I've heard all year. Hopefully it crashes, burns, and dies viciously, like the Garfield films should have. I don't care if this ends up being a cinematic master-stroke – any parent who will eventually take their child to this should have the child taken off them.

@Carson Dyle:

Dude, a bit harsh no? When the movie is released you can always, um, you know, see a different movie? No one needs to have their kids taken away for seeing Yogi Bear lol

Lighten up, it's just a movie :)

Ah terrible cast, and I am not sure why they want to try and make a movie of this, have they not seen scooby doo?
