Thornton and Heder Star as ‘Scoundrels’

Duo tapped for British remake.

How anyone has found talent in Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) based on his feature film debut as an idiot is beyond me, but the Weinstein Co.’s Dimension Films certainly sees something in him as he, along with Billy Bob Thornton, have been tapped to star in School for Scoundrels, a remake of the 1960 British comedy.

Todd Phillips, the director of Old School and Starsky & Hutch, is set to direct the script from Scot Armstrong, the writer of Starsky & Hutch, Old School and Road Trip, which pretty much tells you where this one will be going.

In the feature Heder plays a down-on-his-luck meter reader who enrolls in a confidence-building class so he can win the love of his dream girl. The class turns out to be something quite different once it becomes clear to the young man that his professor (Thornton) has set his sights on the same woman.

Filming is scheduled to begin in October in New York and L.A. with a Spring ‘06 release being eyed.
