This Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated movie is going to be an interesting experiment considering the prequel films were not any good, it looks like more of the same and the animation looks awful.
Today we get the picture above (and one more in our gallery) from USA Today of the film's villain, Asajj Ventress. Yet again we get a double lightsaber baddie, a la Darth Maul, and an animated character ComingSoon.net has referred to as a "bald babe". Yikes, she looks more like a leperous demon to me, but to each his own.
Then we have the new poster featuring our bobble-head heros and their laser swords. Seriously, hasn't anyone gotten tired of lightsaber battles and the force push like I have? The ultimate problem with all of these films is that we already know how all of them are going to turn out. Anakin becomes Darth Vader and yells, "Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!" while almost falling down and Obi Wan gets old and smokes weed in the desert. It's the natural order of things.
I guess Warner Bros. doesn't think the magic is over as I am sure they are happy to finally have their hands on the property that made Fox so much money. However, I am not sure this will do anywhere near the numbers the live action films made.
Here's that poster, the film hits theaters on August 15 as the much talked about Clone Wars will finally have their day in the theaters even though it is with animated bobble-heads/SIMS looking characters.
Oh, and the film just received a PG-rating from the MPAA for sci-fi action violence throughout, brief language and momentary smoking. Yup, smoking. Maybe Obi Wan takes a puff or two. Or, maybe Snoop is a Jedi Knight!
You tell me, what is Yoda thinking? |

I think the real fans, fanatical as they are, will complain and blog till their fingers bleed and still watch it.
For me it's gonna be more for a lazy sunday afternoon when I need brainless entertainment.

You know, the kid is bad, but Jar Jar makes me wince. It's a toss-up for me as to which one is/was worse. Luckily I don't think we will ever see or hear of either of them ever again.
