This is the inaugural edition of what I plan on making a weekly feature. I am not exactly sure what shape it will take from here on out but essentially it will be a rundown of the films opening this weekend with a few thoughts on each, the trailer and a link to my personal review when applicable as well as to the film's asset page on the site. Hopefully you find it useful.

| I have already seen this film, but have not yet reviewed it since I saw it so long ago and just learned it is screening here in Seattle once again this coming Monday. As a result my review will be online this Wednesday, but for now let me just say I loved this picture. Carey Mulligan is the lead contender for the Best Actress Oscar, Alfred Molina is certainly a contender for supporting and should Sony Classics push Peter Sarsgaard for Supporting instead of lead, he too will be up for consideration. The direction from Lone Scherfig is top notch and I particularly loved the score from Paul Englishby. It is opening in only four theaters this weekend, but will expand throughout October and into November. For the complete release schedule click here.

| The trailer pretty much says it all and what isn't said there I have said in my review. Couples Retreat is worth a few laughs over the film's opening 75%, but it suffers from sloppy filmmaking and a terrible, terrible ending.

| I first started talking about this one back in mid-September and today I finally posted my official review and, in short, I loved this movie. I was sent a screener and have watched it three times so far as it has not yet screened here in Seattle. Hopefully it will find its way to a theater near you since the current release schedule doesn't show it getting very far.

| Here's the third movie I reviewed this week and one I actually saw less than 24 hours ago as part of a triple feature Thursday along with Lars von Trier's Antichrist and Ong Bak 2. It certainly served as the lighter part of the viewing schedule, but is probably the overall best film of the three although von Trier's film certainly served as a conversation starter and another film I hope to have reviewed by this coming Wednesday.
As for The Damned United, it's simply a solid film with two great performances from Michael Sheen and Timothy Spall. It too is opening in limited theaters (five this weekend) and expanding throughout October. Check out the trailer directly below and give this one a shot once it hits your town. Get the full release schedule here.

| Apparently Chris Rock is getting sued as a result of this film, but that isn't stopping it from looking wildly entertaining. Unfortunately I have not had a chance to see it or been offered a chance to see it. It's in 185 theaters this weekend and expands on the 23rd so perhaps I will seek it out (but not likely).

| Marshall Fine liked it, Rex Reed liked it, Stephen Holden loved Michelle Monaghan in it and Roger Ebert gave it four stars. I have not seen Trucker but the story of a young truck driver who leads a life of long-haul trucking, one night stands and all-night drinking until her estranged 11-year-old son shows up at her door seems to be capturing a lot of people's attention.
