Theron and Tommy Lee Tapped for Haggis Pic

Following up 'Crash' with a stellar cast

Paul Haggis is a hot commodity considering his recent success with Crash and everyone is anxious to see what he is going to do next and it looks like that next film is going to be called The Garden of Elah and he is currently in talks with Tommy Lee Jones and Charlize Theron to star in the pic.

The film will find Jones playing a career soldier whose son mysteriously goes AWOL, shortly after returning to the U.S. from the front lines in Iraq. Theron will play a local police detective who helps him get to the bottom of the soldier’s disappearance. The film is a fictionalized version of a true story, in which retired Army vet named Lanny Davis uncovered that his son had been murdered during a night of carousing. He’d been attacked by members of his own platoon who were still hopped up from a ferociously violent battlefield tour in Baghdad.

The pic is being set up at Warner Independent Pictures and Haggis has been scouting locations around Albuquerque and in Texas.
