UPDATE: 'The Host 2' Teaser Trailer

The big monster swims again

UPDATE: Strangely enough this video is not actually a teaser for The Host 2 in as much as it is an ad for… wait for it… a French electric company. Ha, ha, ha… I am not sure what to think. JoBlo.com found the original advertisement and here it is:

I was not a big fan of The Host as I detailed right here last August. It was mildly interesting, but people were going gaga over it and I just didn't think it was all that.

Now, a prequel is set for release in 2009 and the teaser trailer has come online. It doesn't do much, but it certainly is quite pretty. Give it a peek below.

Well I though Host was one of the best monster movies ever made. Don't think a prequel is a good idea though. Let's see.

im gonna have to disagree, the first Host movie was terrible. It had no story behind it. It had good special effects and minimal asian comedy but thats all. story sucked smurff balls.

One of the most overrated movies in recent memory. Yeah, yeah, yeah I got the metaphor. It was very in-your-face. Which is fine. But what bothered me were the logic gaps the filmmakers took to service the metaphor they were trying to make. Working backwards like that really hurt the movie.

How could you not like The Host? Jeez, what does it take these days? I bet you loved Twilight though. Can't wait for this sequel as the original was incredible.

Oh god, the Host was so bad I had to quit watching it. The acting was ridiculous, the story was childish, the effects were fake-looking, it was long, disjointed, and often boring. I had to do a doubletake to make sure I was watching the same film that received a 90+rating on rotten tomatoes. The opening scene was like something put on by a high school drama club and it didn't improve much from there. Once they got to the funeral scene with the family wailing and falling all over eachother for what seemed like ten minutes of screen time I was done. Does the fact that it was a Korean film make up for its myriad shortcomings? Do we give the kind of boost that elevates a straight-to-dvd quality joke of a movie into a critical darling just because it is Korean? I didn't get that memo I guess.
