Promo Trailer for Stallone's 'The Expendables' Explodes Online

I can't help but love this

Just the final image alone bearing the title treatment and featuring Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Jet Li, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham and Dolph Lundgren is enough to sell me on the Stallone written and directed actioner The Expendables, which hits theaters on August 20, 2010 and today we get a peek at a promotional trailer for the film that has just hit the Internet.

The film centers on a group of mercenaries sent to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator to liberate the population. Their team is "expendable," hired to do jobs that no one else can or will. Filming is expected to begin in February in Costa Rica and Louisiana.

The film also stars the likes of Mickey Rourke, Eric Roberts, Danny Trejo, Charisma Carpenter, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, and David Zayas and is rumored to include an Arnold Schwarzenegger cameo. You can check out the promo directly below and browse our gallery of 14 images right here.

While the look of it isn't knocking me out, the actors, concept and action have me looking forward to this in a big way.

Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Jet Li, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Eric Roberts, Danny Trejo, Charisma Carpenter, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, and David Zayas….
12 reasons this film has already been doomed to an august release.

As long as they don't show Terry Crews dancing for no reason it's OK by me!

What's really funny is that even if this movie sucks madly, the opening weekend will be astronomical enough to suggest people talking sequel. Stallone hit pay dirt with this one, cast alone…

@JAB:

Doomed to an August release? It's on the same time frame as "Inglorious Basterds." Yes, that particular time frame (and any weekend in the last half of August) is normally for doomed movies, but once BO success sets a precedent, others are free to follow.

Looks like an homage to 80's and 90's straight-to-video and cable action thrillers. So much so, that it is a transparent clone of many of them. So what's the original element here ? Nostalgia ?? Is anybody actually nostalgic for this stuff being done this way ?
