The Eric Northman character must have LONG hair; this had better be a rehearsal/gag shot to throw us off. I want Eric Northman to look different from the actor portraying him. If that is going to be the Eric character's hairstyle for Season 2, it's a shame.

I like Alex's hair in the pic…and for all we know…this could be a rehearsal. The length of Eric's hair does NOT make the character…it's his demeanor…his Mr. Smooth attitude that makes Eric.

Eric Northman is all about the hair for me. He won't be Eric with short hair, he'll just be another guy. It was the otherness of Eric that was attractive – everything about him is over the top, and extreme, and that includes his hair. He's supposed to look like he just stepped off the cover of a romance novel, because the character IS straight out of a romance novel. I hope this was just a rehearsal because of the hair and the clothes – I can't really see Eric wearing a jogging suit, either.

Now I'm not even looking forward to the new season. If he's going to have long hair, I hope we find out soon because this is a complete turn off. I love Alex no matter what he does, but his hair was longer off season than it is in that picture. Don't tell me they shortened his hair when he came back to work?! That's MADNESS!

Oh, I do so hope they will keep Alex this natural for Eric next year. That wig was so awful! His character is hardly about his HAIR. It´s about his personality, which is simply wonderfull. The thing that worries more is, that we won´t get Eric we all know and love. Allan Ball has already altered this character a lot in the first season and I´m worried he would continue this way. It´s a pity, because they have done so great work with casting. Alex is just right on the spot choice for the role and I´m sure he would do a wonderfull Eric the way the character is written in books. And I do so hope he will get the Thor movie role. He needs some major movie done already to get the recognition his talent deserves.

This looks to me like the scene where they bring in Sookie after the Meniad attack. Thats book two right? I am sure all of these pictures are from the begining of the season anyway. I don't like red head girl with Bill and the fact that Jason is going fellowship, but I guess if it was too literal then the show would be no fun.

If Season 2 follows somewhat closely to Book 2 then Eric is "undercover", not wanting it known that he is Eric Northman. This could either be a rehersal shot or it could be Eric incognito. Kristin isn't looking like Pam in this photo either. I wouldn't pass judgment based just on this one photo. Bill's my vamp, and he is looking absolutely yummy. I cannot wait for Season 2 to start!!

Please let this be a rehearsal picture b/c if this is the direction that Alan Ball is taking Eric then that is very upsetting. Eric is all wrong, from the hair to the outfit. Just WRONG!!!

definitely had to change his hair style to Eric because it looked very fake and stiff, but now the change is short and well groomed looks like a classic pretty boy.

I dont think it really matters how long Erics hair is now. Alex is obviously growing his hair out, so thank the Gods we wont have to see that wig again! I personally enjoy looking at Alex no matter what role he is playing, but there is more to a role than just looking the part. Alex has shown us all that he can be Eric, he has tremendous talent, and the length of his hair doesnt lessen that talent! I for one am happy with his hair because it can be grown out more, and that wig was horrible LOL especially for Alex, he had to wear it!

My guess for Eric is that AB is keeping alot of the Eric scenes/info under wraps knowing how beloved this character is. When we've gotten info on the Season Two episodes, there isn't alot of Eric discussed in those but we hear that there is going to be alot more Eric. And the short hair, I think again, they are keeping us in the dark until the shows air. The anticipation is certainly building for me, hope I'm not disappointed and we get to see alot of him.

Thous Eric's hair is short it is 100% better than that God awful wig they had last season. I am excited to see what AB has in store for us this season.

I completely disagree that this is better than the wig. I'll take a bad wig over a short-haired Eric any day. This is probably because so many people had to be ignorant because the wig wasn't perfect. Well, thanks a lot, because this has killed this character for me. That's Alex, not Eric. I love Alex, and I want all good things for him, but I watch this show for ERIC and he has long hair. That was one of the few things they got right about the show in the first season.

I don't see what everyone is so bent out of shape about. Eric is Eric….it isn't the hair I love. However…we don't know whats depicted here so maybe its too soon for that jury to go out. Didn't the books say that they always kept the appearance of what they looked like when they were turned? Thus, that is why Bill has the Civil War look with the long sideburns. I agree that this must be a rehearsal. I too hope he has let his hair grow out enough so he won't have to wear the wig.

This is just so depressing. The hair was what made Eric look like a Viking – you couldn't take your eyes off of him when he walked into the room. Now he's just some tall guy – there's nothing about him that says Viking. I can't picture him looking that preppy and giving a war cry and fighting with a sword. They've just completely ruined my favorite character not just from this show, but ever. He's the reason we all spend hours reading and writing fan fiction. He's not a peripheral character – he's the raison d'etre.

Bill is not FAT and Anna still looks good. Eric should have the long hair(although I am a BILL fan only) the short hair doesn't look right. I do wish that they would make the wig look less matty and greasy though. I just can't wait to see season two and BILL. It will all work out and it will be a good season!!!! GO TRUE BLOOD!! Spoiler Alert**** I think that Eric cuts his hair when he goes undercover in Dallas… (for those who have read the books!)… When I saw this picture, I was like, NO freakin way, they can't be serious, Eric's hair is such a huge part of who he is as a character… but again, I speculate that it may be his "undercover" look….

I was not done rather than be in the basement of fangtasia as was discussed and it is the first chapter when sookie was hurt. But the spoilers also said that chapters 6 and looking for the boyfriend of Elizabeth and only went out when this had already discovered the microphones and so Eric had already appeared in this scene, but never to menciana pam and chow. Eric never showed aggressive in Dallas so it has to be the first scenes. Pam has no makeup so that it could be a test.

@Morgaine: Morgaine, I so totally agree with you; this could completely turn me off the show. Alan Ball, you are taking this a bit too much in your own direction… have more respect for Miss Harris' work!

I am a serious reader of the books (three times now) and I couldn't care less how long Alex wears his hair for Eric…
Eric is all personality…his hair is really irrelevant.
When I first started reading the books…I had a complete different vision of what the character Eric looked like…long blonde hair yes…but longer than Eric wore it last season…and he was more weathered…not quite so yummy….but as I started watching the show…Eric took the form Alex portrays and I feel he did a wonderful job. If you talk to Mrs. Harris and hear who her muse actually was for the Eric character…You'd be surprised!!
PS…Word from HBO is this is NOT a rehearsal shot….so I guess the show lost a few watchers…for a silly reason if you ask me!!! I'll be there watching intently beacuse the show is more for me than just the length of a characters hair!!!

I've just got to jump in here on the Eric's hair topic. Would I prefer long Viking hair? YES. Do we even know what his hair will look like in Season 2? NO. I get that we all love the character and have preferences and opinions, that’s great! That is what makes talking about the books and the show fun.
However, I've seen posts from some here and on the HBO wiki, that make me feel so sorry for some people. If a fictional character's hair style can make or break your day, week or outlook on the future, that is so so sad :( I mean really, it's a TV show, it's not real life. Get over it.
There's too much to look forward to with the new CH book, Season 2 coming, the warmer weather =) Life has enough problems, fictional character's hair shouldn't add to a person's troubles.

That being said, I hope everyone can find something to look forward to regarding season 2 and be bit more positive!

Feel as superior as you want – it matters to me, and I don't care if that's "sad." I was looking forward to the new season, now I'm not. That's just the way it is. I don't want to see the character get ruined, and you know as well as I do, they've already gotten way off track with Eric by having Bill kill Long Shadow. This is just one more sign that they don't care about what the fans think or about the integrity of the original characters.

And, by the way, people go to fan sites so they can commiserate about things like this. If you don't care, you probably shouldn't be hanging around a fandom with people who do. You can feel superior on your own time. It's too easy to be condescending about things you don't really care about.

Commiserating isn’t the reason I and most others I know come to fansites. Commiserating is something you do at a funeral…Most people come to these sites to enjoy the company of those who share the same interest while having a good time. Last night while “lurking” on the Wiki I saw you run off all those who didn’t want to commiserate with you, it was like “no fun allowed” night last night. If people were positive about season 2 or book 9 (or anything else), you just argued with them until they left.
I care about the character as much as having a real life will allow me to care. I just think it’s easy to care too much when you don’t have much else to focus on.
Let people who are happy about the hair/book 9/season 2 be happy, just because they don’t agree with you doesn’t mean they’re wrong.

To Robin #29: It has not been confirmed that Eric will have short hair the entire season. Yes, the picture is not a rehearsal shot and it is an episodic still, but that doesn't mean Eric will have short hair. Eric was in disguise many times throughout the books and this could very well be the case.

I like these sites where you can discuss our views. Morgaine understand how you feel (you live, sleep and dream of TB and the books of CH) I feel the same way since January that I know the TV series. I started researching and I came across the books and everything about the characters, but everyone is used to express what they feel about the show and its characters and also moslesta us that things are not as we expected. But I also think that AB has done a good job and have a good reason to have short hair Eric and I accept that with pleasure, there will be a good justification for that. I think AB can also make your own version of the books and maybe is not equal to that of CH, it would be likely to give pleasure to fans of Bill on the show. I'm from mexico so the show began airing in January and ends on Sunday here and not the second season in June vere but later they can understand what I feel? Also, books have been translated into Spanish, solamento the first 3 books. But I found a blog where you download and read and all but I could not get the books short, if anyone knows where can I read are in English though. What happens in the TV news than ever with TB, and I see every day! news to see if there are reports of TB and all, but there is always something of Twilight, every day they have to mention it. Perhaps there is good news that the show commenting on Eric's hair?

But not everything that is said on the website of the progress of the second season seems to be that as ana p. and Stephen M. are a couple in real life it will take in the show and that's not good news for us fans of Eric. I think that will change history. AB will not see that these forums and fan pages that Eric how big they are, fans of the books and the actor, not to exploit this popularity? The truth at the beginning was a fan of Bill, but had not read the books, so we are now a fan of Eric and I would not want the relationship of actors and raiting change history.

I came on here to see some pictures, I wanted to leave a comment, I start reading other comments…and there is a lot of negative comments…are you not liking the show..A guy gets a haircut and everyone freaks out..I think it makes his Character look better..Now I have heard about these books, but I will not read them. I would like to enjoy a show and not know what might happen, because most of the time, when a books are transformed into a series, the books are always different then the show. I think this is the most spectacular show, I have seen in a long time, A show that draws you in..And Season 2 looks pretty good.

@Robin: No, it hasn't. I read CH's forum daily and it's simply not there. I'm a member of the forum where the information was first confirmed. The admin. of that board spoke to a HBO rep who confirmed that the season 2 pics released were episodic stills NOT that Eric would have short hair for season 2. BTW, I think the hair looks good too on AS, but not as the character of Eric unless it's a disguise. Again, if you could point me where it states that HBO said Eric will have short hair for the entire season, I would appreciate it.

@aleyuc: Alan Ball knows how popular the character of Eric is. No need to worry about that. AB will tell the story he wants regardless of the actor's personal relationships and he is a big fan of the books. Eric's backstory is being told this season which hasn't even happened in the books yet. He will be a major player in the future season.

In any case, as a fan of the books as well as the HBO series, I'm looking forward to the comparing the differences between the author and the series creator – it makes both more enjoyable that they are CH's and AB's creative visions.

If TB was exactly like the books, we would know exactly what happens and there would be no expanded Tara nor Lafayette roles. Sure, the addition of Jessica was very strange and totally mixes it up, but that's the beauty of adaptations – it's all in the hands of AB and I'm excited to see what's next.

Uhm. Eric and Pam look like they're returning from a friendly game of tennis. As wealthy and powerful characters, seeing them dressed like soccer moms is very offputting. If this is a joke/rehearsal pic to throw us off, good job! If this is supposed to be serious though, I may have to reconsider tuning in. I like that Alan Ball incorporates new ideas separate from the books, but I do respect the series and do not want to see it become a joke. Season 1 went well, I will hope for the best and trust Alan Ball. For now. That's all we can do. Oh, and Eric having long hair is non-negotiable friends. I just got back from Paleyfest last week…the cast and Alan Ball were wonderful!

I heard from a very reliable source that most of the long hair (wig) shots are flashbacks and Alex will not be wearing the wig this season. I've heard that the wig is not the most comfortable thing in the world to wear (especially on their long work hours) and I believe Alex is happy with the decision to lose it…I am too!

Eric Northman is not all about the HAIR! He is such a complexed character and Alexander will bring that to the screen…with or without long blong hair!
I trust in his ability…I'm sure the second season will be better than the first and I'm sooo anticipating reading the posts here after everyone sees the new Eric!
I bet a lot of people will change their minds and a whole new gourd of Eric lovers will emerge!
I may be biased as I am a Alexander Skarsgard fan first, True Blood second…I respect Alex for many roles he's portrayed (including his Swedish films)…but his hair style should not make or break your admiration for the show!

As long as Eric stays true in form…personality wise…ego wise…power wise…does his hair even matter???

jeez!! michelle: we don't all want to read the books!! i wanted to awhile ago but canT' see wasting $30 or $50 dollars on a wholE set of books!! maybe when the show is over!! id' rather just watch the show and not know what is gonna happen according to some book series!! Hey if anyone has read the books, i'm thinking that that might be eric in disguise, since he's "leif".

I think that it is just a rehearsal shot and the hair does matter!!! Eric is a Viking in his past and needs to look the part, and I believe it is part of his character and he would just not be the same without the long hair!! Besides….. the girls need something to hold on to…… :) Can't wait for the series premere!! :)

@Morgaine: o my god what did they do his hair!!! Eric was so so sexy and Hot I can't beleive they would do this!! Oh well they can always let it grow back which better happen!!

I think it is not a test, we must give a chance to see how it will play the character Alex, is that Eric is a long-haired blond but you better cut your hair to change the personality of his character, I hope that remain faithful to the character of Eric.

Okay everyone, as a huge Alexander Skarsgard fan I must reply.

His hair in season one was a wig, and in my personal opinion looked terrible.

I'm glad they have his natural hair in season two, although I agree it could be longer.

I am so excited about seeing season 2 I can hardly stand it!!! Having lived in Dallas for a long time, I'm excited to see the show visit a new city for a while!

Also, Excited about seeing Eric and Sookie's relationship develop….I'm interested to see how they pull this off.

ALSO, I think in one of the later books CH describes Eric as dressing casual, while not at Fangtasia of course.

(I mean, if I were a 1000 year old vampire I'd wear whatever the hell I want to.)

From what i have read from jenna above i think she is right about eric not wearing the wig this season, because if you have seen that new trailer his hair is the same lenght and style as it is in this picture. I honestly do not agree with it though. I do realize that his hair is not what makes the person but with Eric is does. He is a viking and is supossed to have his long hair. It basically makes his character. I also think that he looked a lot better with the wig on. This short hair thing is just not doing it for me. It also makes me question Alan Ball's ability to be a good director because he for one should know that once vampires are changed, their appearances stay the same for the rest of eternity. I am extremely upset with this decision and i think that they need to get the wig back. Uncomfortable or not, the wig makes the appearance of the character.

As a fan of the book series and a follower of Eric i do wish that Alex had long hair. however… it doesn't really matter. if the wig was uncomfortable, the wig was uncomfortable. stop being melodramatic and just hope that he decides to grow it out. its short.
and what about the fat-looking Chow? and how is Pam's outfit different from her usual style? you guys are disecting certain parts too much.

I can't believe some of the silliness I am reading. You'd think it was a bunch 13 year old girls talking about Twilight in here. Eric's hair does make him Eric. It is only one small piece to the puzzle and not an important one at that. If you claim to be a fan of a certain character, be a fan of ALL of him…NOT just his physical appearance. Anyway, IDK why but that reminds me of Jason Stackhouse's basement in that picture with Pam, Eric, and Chow. LOL @ the person who said that Pam shouldn't wear that track suit. Just wow.
