'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' To Return in Live Action Form
Make up your mind already...
After three live-action films starting in 1990 and a mediocre animated film in 2007 the Mirage Group will be the next to take on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as apparently there is still an audience out there. The worthless difference here is they are going back to the original theatrical form with an all-new live action version targeted for release in 2011 and I don't blame you if you have already clicked away from this snoozer of a story.
Variety brings the news saying Legendary Pictures former chief marketing officer Scott Mednick is producing the new pic alongside Galen Walker, who produced the 2007 computer-animated TMNT pic. This will mark the fifth outing for the Turtles in the cinema world and the news comes only hours before the original 1990 film screens at the Tribeca Film Festival on what is the Turtles' 25th anniversary.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles began as a comic book in 1984 centered on four turtles and a rat who are transformed into a humanized state thanks to gelatinous mutagenetic sewer goo, or something to that effect. Together they take on Shredder, your typical take-over-the-world kinda baddie. The group is made up of Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael as well as their master Splinter.
The trailer for the 1990 version is attached to this post, I wonder how much better the new live-action suits will look. I also wonder if it even matters.
