‘Star Trek’ Villains are a Romulan Version of Captain Jack Sparrow

Uh oh, details slip out and actors are murdered

Clifton Collins Jr.

E! Online of all places annoying and pointless has an interesting interview with Clifton Collins Jr. in relation to his role in the upcoming Star Trek film directed by J.J. Abrams. As with everything Abrams does the details surrounding the particulars of the plot have been kept secret, but a little bit leaked out today.

Collins confirms that the villain roles he and Eric Bana play are in fact Romulans and the two of them had to work with a linguist to get down the fake alien language. He went on to say his and Bana’s Romulan look could have been somewhat inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean. “We’re space pirates, think of Johnny Depp as a Romulan.”

He also hints at a couple of surprise appearances and when asked if he was referring to characters and actors from the original television series, Collins simply smiled and said, “Maybe.” Of course we already know Leonard Nimoy is already in the film, but William Shatner who was doing his own lobbying to be in the feature continually said he had never been contacted. All of that could have been a lie or perhaps the surprise appearances will be more obscure, or maybe Nichelle Nichols. The film is a time traveling tale, from what I understand, centered on the crew of the enterprise from the original television series which means Kirk, Spock and the rest of the retro space adventurers. This leaves open numerous possibilities.
