Singer Eyes Revenge on Mark Wahlberg

Will a vigilanted thriller be the next for the Superman helmer?

Bryan Singer

Back on March 6 it was announced Mark Wahlberg was attached to a new film called Prisoners from first-time writer Aaron Guzikowski. The story centers on a Boston man who turns vigilante after his daughter and her best friend are kidnapped.

At the time no director was attached and I said it sounded a lot like Wahlberg's film Max Payne and a couple of commenters referenced Taken, the recent box-office success starring Liam Neeson. I didn't necessarily think the film sounded all that interesting since we have had so many films of its ilk recently, but apparently the script is something Hollywood is hounding and has been compared to The Silence of the Lambs and Seven and over the weekend Entertainment Weekly dropped word that Bryan Singer (Superman Returns) may be eying the film as his next feature.

When EW asked Singer if Prisoners would be his next film he replied, "I don't know yet. But I'm definitely intrigued. It's a great script. And I'd love to work with Mark." It doesn't sound like much, but the fact EW has mentioned it and adds Singer "has been seriously considering" the film means they must be getting some kind of vibe.

No…
If Bryan Singer does this movie, another Superman movie will never get anywhere.
Are they ever going to get to work on that film?
How could they possibly be more serious about a "Fantastic Four" remake and not a superman sequel? (i liked the fantastic four movies, the 2nd far more than the 1st, but they can be a hell of lot better, and with the same cast)
It's so clear the movie came out way too close to Pirates Of The Carribean; Dead Man's Chest, and was way overbudgeted.
Brandon Routh can handle being on a string for god sakes; he doesn't need to be so CGI all the time.
Get Bryan Singer back to make a really good sequel with a strong villian that is comparable to Superman (perhaps Bizzaro) and it'll be a big hit. It's not that hard.
I don't mean to get so mad abou this considering everyone's extreme love for the Spider-Man Movies (whose redeeming qualities only come from the villians and action sequences), it's hard to agree with the masses on Superman Returns.
Bring on Superman: The Man Of Steel!!!
