Serenity #1 in the UK

Right movie, wrong continent...

The Brits know a good movie when they see one! They’ve made Serenity the number one movie of the weekend, beating out even native Keira Knightley’s Pride and Prejudice. Quoting here from BBC:

Serenity, created by “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” mastermind Joss Whedon, took almost £960,000 in its first weekend.

So that means I was right when I said it would win! It was just the wrong weekend, against the wrong competition in the wrong country. Anyone could screw that up. In case you’re wondering I think 960k pounds is about $2 million US, so not exactly a windfall for our bud Mr. Whedon. Oh well, gotta start somewhere, right governor?
