Seabiscuit’ Races to DVD in December

Seabiscuit, an American epic of triumph and perseverance set during the Great Depression, and based on the best-selling book that remains one of the most popular and widely read non-fiction books of recent years, breaks out of the gate on DVD and VHS on December 16, 2003.

Galloping past the $110 million mark in its current run at the box office, the critically-acclaimed release arrives in the midst of the year’s biggest holiday gift-giving season. Seabiscuit will be available on DVD in widescreen or full-frame on November 4, 2003.

Starring Tobey Maguire, Jeff Bridges, Academy Award®-winner Chris Cooper (Adaptation), William H. Macy and Elizabeth Banks, Seabiscuit is directed by Gary Ross (Pleasantville) and scored by Academy Award ®-winner Randy Newman (Monsters, Inc.).

The Seabiscuit DVD includes a full roster of exclusive bonus materials that provide insightful background into the making of the film and the fascinating true story of a racehorse that became a hero to millions of Americans. Photo Finish: Jeff Bridges’ On the Set Photographs – Seabiscuit co-star and noted photographer Jeff Bridges’ personal photographs of the making of the film are contained in an exclusive segment.

The 2-disc Seabiscuit gift set DVD will include the above bonus features and extensive interviews with the cast, rare archival material, and more behind-the-scenes background:

Winners’ Circle: The Heroes Behind the Legend – Individual interviews with the actors who portrayed the film’s colorful characters including Tobey Maguire as Red Pollard, Jeff Bridges as Charles S. Howard, Chris Cooper as Tom Smith, Gary Stevens as George Woolf, Elizabeth Banks as Marcella Howard, Kingston DuCoeur as Sam, William H. Macy as Tick-Tock McGlaughlin, and David McCullough, who provides the voice of the narrator.

In addition, two highly-acclaimed specials, the critically-lauded “The True Story of Seabiscuit” and HBO’s First Look, round out the second disc.
