Ryan Atwood and Al Pacino?

'O.C.' star and the Godfather's son.

I did not see this one coming at all. When I found out Benjamin McKenzie, a.k.a. Ryan Atwood from Fox’s “The O.C.“, would be starring in a film called Snakes On a Plane I was okay with it, that seemed to fit. But to learn that he is going to be playing opposite Al Pacino in Jon Avnet’s 88 Minutes is a bit disconcerting.

The young Russell Crowe look-a-like has wound his way into the production which is currently shooting in Vancouver. The film focuses on a college professor (Pacino) who moonlights as a forensic psychiatrist for the FBI who receives a death threat claiming he only has 88 minutes to live. McKenzie is playing one of Pacino’s grad students and a possible suspect in the professor’s investigation reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Perhaps Atwood, I mean McKenzie, can shed the “kid from Chino” act and pull this one off, we will just have to wait and see.
