Rob Zombie Gives Up and Will Direct 'Halloween 2'

Does anyone even want this to happen?

Hollywood is an interesting place where anything can happen. Rob Zombie's 2007 remake of Halloween was downright awful. It scored a 25% at RottenTomatoes on its way to a manipulative $58 million at the box-office. It wasn't scary and it had none of the tension John Carpenter's original brought to the table. Everything having to do with the iconic Michael Myers was explained all the way down to what he ate for breakfast as a child, growing up with a stereoptypical white trash family. So who would think to bring Zombie back for the sequel? Why, those madcap execs at Dimension Films is who as Zombie is now officially attached to direct Halloween 2, or H2 as the teaser poster attached to the Variety announcement showcases.

Zombie will write and direct H2 with production set to begin in March with the new film picking up right as the first remake ended, following the aftermath of Michael Myers' murderous rampage through the eyes of the sister he hunted.

"I was so burned out. (But) I took a long break, made a record and I got excited again," Zombie told Variety regarding earlier statements saying he had no interest in returning for a sequel. "Now, we'll be hauling ass, and that's the problem making a movie called Halloween: If you come out Nov. 1 or after, nobody cares. If it was called anything else, I'd be fine."

Hey Rob, don't worry about it. No one is expecting anything more than that crap pile you served up the first time around. Take it easy and just do whatever you feel like. After all, people are already going to see it based on the name alone… You have a built in audience. How 'bout that?

However, I need you to promise me one thing – please have some trashy parent in this one that isn't good to their kids. All horror films need that… don't they?

I thought that Alexandre Bustillo & Julien Maury (directors of À l'intérieur A.K.A Inside) were supposed to direct this.?! I think that would have been much better option.

Well…after the first mess that Zombie (i think the name´s correct when it comes to directing movies) directed…I think it is impossible to save this movie anyway…

-As long as we watch shit in theaters…they will make shit.

i dont know why they're making a sequel…the 1st one did make some money @ the box office but they didn't follow the same story like the original halloween.
***Spoilers*** in the remake dr.loomis died but in the original series he didn't die til halloween 6…. i can't remember how the original ended but i'm pretty sure it didn't end with michael myers getting shot in the head

for me i think they already have a rough start on coming up with the story so they really can't make this movie any better than the 1st cuz the 1st sucked anyways….

Well, I'll be the first to say it and am proud to do so… I really enjoyed Zombie's Halloween. Of course the tension was going to be somewhat lessened due to the fact that we all knew the story already. That being said, I thought it was very well shot and it did manage to create tension outside of the story we already knew. *spoiler* I also dug how the original movie didn't start until halfway through Zombie's pic and when it did it picked right up at the scene with Laurie walking down her neighborhood street. Cool stuff. I've enjoyed all of Zombie's flicks and laugh in the face of the dorks who like to slam his work as if they could offer anything even close. Besides, Zombie has definitely created his own style, or niche if you will, that is nothing like anything else being made today. Cheers to you Rob. Keep em coming.
