Speaking of The Expendables, here's the first look at some footage from the film that just hit the net:
Cinema Blend found a casting announcement at Backstage for The Smurfs Movie that alludes to the plot for the film as it calls for humans, and not an ugly old man to play the evil wizard Gargamel. Check it out below:
Sophie: ages 8-10, a girl of great imagination and originality, though always appealing, she is often socially awkward and doesn't fit in with the other kids, she's smart and open, though she can be physically clumsy, when she discovers that the "doll" her father brought home from Belgium is actually a living, breathing Smurf, she takes "Clumsy" in as a member of the family and tries to get the household to embrace him and the rest of the Smurfs.
Sam: 13-16 (to play 14-15), Sophie's brother, a good kid, but he's going through that phase where he can be difficult and withdrawn and retreat to his room to play video games, through his involvement in the Smurfs' quest to get home, he reconnects with his parents and sister.
Next, we have the unfortunate news director Neill Blomkamp is already talking about a sequel to District 9 telling Entertainment Weekly, "I would do anything to go back to the world of District 9 again. Or District 10." Fortunately, he told Fangoria, "I've actually got an idea now for the next film I want to do, which is [another] science fiction movie." Good Neill, stay away from the sequel business and keep working with original ideas. [Slash Film]
Meanwhile, some folks are starting to think of District 9 as a potential Oscar consideration based on Academy applause. Clap, clap, clap… OSCAR! [In Contention]
