Remember Sophie Marceau?

The first female Bond villain is long forgotten

Sophie Marceau

There is no denying Sophie Marceau's beauty, but after starring as Princess Isabelle in Braveheart and then playing the first ever female Bond villain in the terrible The World is Not Enough we haven't really heard anything from the French born actress since then in regards to "big" films and while I don't think this new announcement is necessarily big, it does have me interested.

Marceau is set to star in French director Marc Esposito's Cendrillon (Cinderella alongside Jean Reno. The film will be yet another adaptation of the classic fairy tale with Reno playing the role of the king and Marceau will portray the fairy godmother.

The film also will star this year's Cesar winner for Most Promising Female Newcomer, Melanie Laurent, as Cinderella and veteran actress Catherine Jacob as her wicked aunt. The film is scheduled to start shooting summer 2008.

Will this be the start of a bigscreen comeback for the 40-year-old actress? I would venture to say unlikely.
