Rachel Weisz Labeled as the 'Whistleblower'
Another political drama for the Oscar winner

Oscar-winner Rachel Weisz has signed on to star in The Whistleblower for feature debut director Larysa Kondracki, an independent political drama scripted by Kondracki and Ellis Kirwin and based on the story of Kathryn Bolkovac, who traveled to Bosnia in 1999 as a U.N. peacekeeper.
The true story Whistleblower is based on chronicles the trials of a female cop from Nebraska who serves as a peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia and exposes a United Nations cover-up of a sex trafficking scandal. Weisz will obviously be playing the female cop.
Weisz actually has quite a packed slate coming up including The Brothers Bloom this summer and The Lovely Bones in December. There is no telling if Agora, directed by Alejandro Amenbar, will end up falling into 2009, but one can only hope.
The Variety story reporting the Whistleblower news references Weisz's recent role in The Constant Gardener in which she played a murdered activist, a role that won her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2006.
