'Public Enemies' Has a Second Trailer

You know you wanted more...

First off, after the release of the first trailer for Michael Mann's Public Enemies online I saw a lot of people complaining about how it looked bad because Mann was shooting with HD cameras and so forth. Well, I saw the first trailer in the theater recently in front of Knowing and can say for certain everyone complaining needs to stop judging films based on what they see online, the picture looks phenomenal. However, the picture on this second trailer is on the other side of awful and the audio may be even worse.

The second trailer for Public Enemies has hit the Internet and is now featured directly below. Due out on July 1, Public Enemies stars Johnny Depp and Christian Bale and is set during the great crime wave of 1933-34, when the government’s attempts to stop Depression-era criminal legends such as John Dillilnger (Depp), Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd transformed J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI into the country’s first federal police force.

A better version is available at MSN, but it unfortunately isn't embeddable.

I just don't think the hanheld digital camera feel is right for a period film, that's why I complained about the first trailer (not because I thought the image was too good, actually I kinda thing Mann's digital style isn't as good an image as regular film). Still looking forward to the movie though.

Welll i saw the movie in Sherman oaks CA when it previews and the hand held thing was not a problem. Mann wanted a theme for the movie and im not going to give anything away but it all makes since once you get into the theater and watch the thing. Its beautiful. It evokes that old time feeeling and once you see what Mann has done with it, you will be shocked at how good his ideas are.

P.s.- acting is wonderful, but watch out for Marion Cotillard who should easily get and oscar nomination for this one. She is superb

Everyone keeps saying that about Marion, but from the trailer her part looks like a typical girlfriend/wife role.

I want to see the movie though.

It would be such a slap to Bale's and Depp's if Cotillard did get a nomination. But any Oscar buzz for this movie–this early at least– seems slightly overrated.
