Brad Brevet should not have written this brief article since he is, admittedly, not familiar with this classic of English literature. And, he would not have fallen for the mistaken belief that the Olivier/Oberon version is the definitive take. Only a version which attempts to tell the entire story should be considered as definitive. Wyler only tells us half the story. Versions which try to tell the tale in 2 hours must also, by definition, fail. It must at least be a mini-series and the closest version to Emily's intent is probably the 1978 BBC production with Hutchinson and Adshead.
