Portman to Star in Bronte's 'Wuthering Heights'
Because we needed yet another adaptation

A search on IMDb results in 14 film/television productions based on Emily Brontë's only novel "Wuthering Heights". One of them has the date 2010 attached and that one would be the flick Natalie Portman is now attached to star in. The IMDb page, however, has The Jacket director John Maybury attached to helm a script from Olivia Hetreed (Girl with a Pearl Earring), but the article at Variety announcing Portman's involvement doesn't mention Maybury at all.
The film doesn't have a start date, a director or really anything at all in terms of details other than to say Portman is going to play Catherine Earnshaw.
For those not familiar (myself included), "Wuthering Heights" is the story of the all-encompassing and passionate, yet thwarted, love between Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw, and how this unresolved passion eventually destroys both themselves and many around them.
The 1939 William Wyler version is said to be the definitive take on the story. The film starred Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon, it earned eight Oscar noms and won one (Best Cinematography).
