Pinhead is Coming Back in New ‘Hellraiser’

Dimension loves to remake classic horrors

Pinhead (obviously)

While Rob Zombie’s Halloween made good money at the box-office it didn’t seem to impress audiences as I didn’t hear or read anything good about it. So, what does Dimension Films think about that? If at first you don’t succeed, try again, and try again they will… This time they are tackling Clive Barker’s 1987 horror Hellraiser.

Variety refers to Halloween as a “hit”, but when a movie makes $26 million during its opening weekend and can only manage $21 million following that I am not likely to call it a hit. Sure, it broke the Labor Day box-office records and that is all anyone in Hollywood seems to care about now, but come on. Let’s look at the quality of the film as well. I will admit I never saw the film since Dimension didn’t screen it for critics here in Seattle (did they screen it anywhere?), so who knows, maybe I will see it one day and like it. For now, I will just keep my blind opinon.

As for the Hellraiser remake, Dimension has brought on French filmmakers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo to write and direct with Barker along to produce (a.k.a. collect money).

The original flick featured the gnarly dude you see to the right and revolved around a couple who move into an old house inhabited by the man’s eviscerated half-brother, who escaped hellish torture from the Cenobites but returned shorn of his skin. The Cenobites, who are triggered by a Rubik’s Cube-like puzzle device that unlocks the gates of hell, would like another meeting with the man.

Personally I hope it succeeds, I would love another good horror flick, by the way, my Halloween recommendation is 30 Days of Night (check out some clips here), that is one you should enjoy.

These remakes are getting pathetic! They are going to ruin this movie much like all the rest of them. All that the people in the horror industry care about is money and not creativity thats why these classic directors are taking part in their remakes. Remaking Hellraiser is almost as pathetic as the remaking of Cannibal Holocaust and Last House of the Left! THE MPAA IS GOING TO DESTROY ALL THESE MOVIES WITH THEIR STUPID RATINGS!
