Perelman to Shrug Jolie's 'Atlas'

Yeah, this one sounds like a movie for limited release

Since 2003's House of Sand and Fog director Vadim Perelman will finally see his follow-up In Bloom released as it hits the Toronto Film Festival this September. For a while Perelman was set to direct a feature film adaptation of the Stephen King and Peter Straub novel "The Talisman", but that fell through, but he has found a replacement in Atlas Shrugged starring Angelina Jolie.

The film is currently propped up over at Lionsgate with Perelman rewriting Randall Wallace's script based on Ayn Rand's famed novel was first published in 1957. Hope is to get a final script in place so Lionsgate can formally commit to the project for an early 2008 production start.

Wallace's draft was able to boil down Rand's 1,100-plus page book into a 127-page script. The drama revolves around what happens when great industrialists and thinkers go on strike and the world grinds to a halt.
