Paycheck' Comes Second to Affleck

Talk about picking up his buddy's leavings. Ben Affleck told SCI-FI Wire that Matt Damon was originally thought of to play the lead role in the upcoming release, Paycheck.

Affleck said that Damon met with director John Woo, but turned the role down since the amnesia plot line was a little too similar to the role of Jason Bourne he played and is still keeping alive with the upcoming sequel The Bourne Supremacy.

Affleck told SCI-FI Wire, Matt called me, actually, and said, 'I met with John [Woo]. There's a really good script. You ought to check it out and get on this.'"

Fortunately for Ben, Woo then caught Changing Lanes on the way home and offered Affleck the role when he got back to Los Angeles, and the rest is history. Paycheck opens Christmas Day.
