Paramount Pictures 2009 Summer Movie Picture Preview

It's a fanboy dream scene... Star Trek, Transformers and G.I. Joe lead the way

I am still hoping to get together a Summer Preview of my own similar to last year's, but just haven't had a chance to get it sorted out, but for the time being it looks like the studios are ahead of me as today I received some new images from five of Paramount's six upcoming summer releases, which includes three new looks at the May 8 release of Star Trek.

Each movie is featured below with a teaser image and the synopsis. By clicking on the "Browse the Gallery" links it will open a new window, which you can close to return to this article and continue the preview. Overall there are nine new images, but for the most part the galleries on a few of these were already quite large.

Enjoy!

"Dance Flick" is a hilarious new comedy that brings together the talents of two generations of the Wayans family, the explosively funny clan who brought us the "Scary Movie" franchise and "White Chicks," as well as the groundbreaking TV series "In Living Color."

In "Dance Flick," a young street dancer, Thomas Uncles (Damon Wayans, Jr.), from the wrong side of the tracks and a beautiful young woman, Megan White (Shoshana Bush), are brought together by their passion for dancing and put to the test in the mother of all dance battles.

"Dance Flick" sends up the dance movie genre, including such recent hits as "Step Up" and "You Got Served," as well as the classic "Flashdance."

"G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra." is directed by Stephen Sommers ("The Mummy," "The Mummy Returns").

The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard
August 21

Photo: Paramount Vantage Presents
Who is Don Ready? Salesman? Lover? Song Stylist? Semi-professional dolphin trainer? Ready is all of the above, except for a dolphin trainer. When he's asked to help save an ailing local car dealership from bankruptcy, Ready and his ragtag crew descend on the town of Temecula like a pack of coyotes on a basket full of burgers. Selling, drinking, selling and going to strip clubs is their stock and trade. And they do it well. What Don doesn't expect is to fall in love and find his soul (cue heartfelt piano). THE GOODS stars Emmy award-winning actor Jeremy Piven (THE KINGDOM, "Entourage") and Ving Rhames (I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU CHUCK & LARRY, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE III). The film is the first production from Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez Productions, directed by Neal Brennan, creator of the hugely successful Comedy Central hit, "Chappelle's Show."

'Transformers 2' and 'Star Trek' are both written by Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman? That certainly raised my hopes for Star Trek … those costumes still look like cheap fancy dresses though

I'm not too interested in "Star Trek." If it gets rave reviews, I may go see it. But not otherwise. "Dance Flick" I'd see, but only for free, i.e. not in theaters.

"Transformers 2" I'll see opening weekend.

The others generate no interest in me.

Bad news first: Dance Flick will suck and G.I. Joe will be a major disappointment.

Glad that's out of the way. Transformers will be a great film – and it'll blow the first one way out of the water. While the possibility of the new Star Trek film sucking major ass just makes me wanna weap, thankfully J.J. Abrams has restored this one-time trekkies faith in Hollywood once again. STAR TREK WILL ROCK!!
