Owen Wilson’s Woes Begin

First step is to drop Tropic Thunder

It was already speculated that this would happen, and it appears now that Variety is officially calling Owen Wilson’s mishap a couple of days ago an “attempted suicide” without using the word “alleged” along with it. This is just sad news, it has got to take a lot to make a guy that seemed as happy and energetic as Owen to take things this far.

Unfortunately the business world moves on and Wilson has had to drop out of the DreamWorks ensemble comedy Tropic Thunder sinec he was supposed to begin a weeklong shoot in two to three weeks. The decision was characterized as a mutual agreement between star/director Ben Stiller and Wilson.

Stiller began shooting the film in Hawaii six weeks ago and there is no word on whether or not someone will fill in for Owen or if the role will be cut altogether. The story revolves around a group of actors shooting a big-budget war movie who are forced to become the soldiers they are portraying.

Those that make up the cast include Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., Jay Baruchel, Jack Black, Nick Nolte, Steve Coogan, Bill Hader and Tom Cruise is rumored to be having a small cameo.

Wilson is recovering at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
