Owen Wilson Attempts Suicide?
Tough news concerning a well-liked actor
UPDATE: Owen Wilson issued a simple statement via TMZ.com saying, “I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time.” Here is TMZ’s original report on the whole ordeal, including this gem featuring Owen’s ex, Kate Hudson.
There’s no way to break this other than to break it: The National Enquirer is reporting that actor Owen Wilson attempted suicide Sunday afternoon, while Variety is referring to it saying actor would be ‘detoxed’. The below quote is from National Enquirer.
Wilson was transported to St. John’s hospital in Santa Monica , Calif. on Sunday, August 26, by ambulance. Sources tell the ENQUIRER and Star that he sliced his left wrists and took an indeterminate amount of pills.
He was discovered by a family member who summoned help.
This is completely out of left field to me. Wilson seemed like the jokey, laid back type with an easy-going philosophy on life. The rich and famous obviously have their problems too but you can’t help but wonder, “Why?”. Talent, money, fame, celebrity girlfriends (Kate Hudson for one). Why, dude?
They say comedy is tragedy plus time and while we have one, we don’t quite have the other so I’ll keep my You, Me and Dupree jokes in check and instead just wish that an actor I like makes it through what is obviously a tough time in his life. I’m curious as to how this will affect the box office for his latest Wes Anderson collaboration, The Darjeeling Limited, which is due out in November and how 20th Century Fox will react, if at all.
Once again here’s hoping Wilson recovers and gets through this ordeal while remembering however shitty some aspects of his life are, he still has a lot to be happy about; namely a career, fans (and I would assume) family and friends.
