I just saw the film and thought it was very interesting. Usually I don't find historical films very entertaining at all, but I enjoyed this one very much and would have to disagree with anyone who said "the film itself isn’t all that great ."

I don't even care. Wall-E is the best film of the year by far. I think it should get a best picture nomination. especially since all the oscar contenders thus far have not been well, oscar contenders.

DarkKnightFAN12 said: I personally do not think that ANY animated movie should ever be thought about for the Best Picture category.

Isn't a movie a movie?

Also, the differences between a film like WALL-E and a movie like Kung Fu Panda are so drastic they hardly compare. And then look at a film like Waltz with Bashir. Animation has changed so much, to compare one to another and leave it to one sibling category seems to be just plain wrong.

Both have directors, actors, art directors, cinematographers, composers, etc. If it's about money, it cost $180 million to make WALL-E. I really don't see anything that distinguishes live action from animation any longer.

I personally do not think that ANY animated movie should ever be thought about for the Best Picture category. Animated films have their own, separate section in the Academy. Let's just leave it at that. (I am not saying Wall-E wasn't great, because it was, I just don't think live action and animation should be mixed in one category).

What about Defiance?? Even being pushed to the 31, it still stands a chance! A heard that people enjoyed it deeply in the first screenings...
