Indiana Jones, SNL, Narnia and Debaters
If there was ever to be a must buy collection of films you would think it would be the Indiana Jones trilogy. However, what kind of sense does it make to buy a trilogy box set when the fourth film is just about to come out and is virtually guaranteed to be coming out in a super-duper collection set once it hits DVD? I mean, it makes no sense. On top of that, by the time Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull hits DVD more people will probably own Blu-ray players and I wouldn't be surprised if it was the first major collection Paramount released on Blu-ray. As much as we all love these movies, save your money and just wait until that big box set falls from the sky and props itself up all pretty like on your shelf.
However, should you be so inclined to throw some money away you can BUY THE SET AT AMAZON or you can buy the individual Special Editions:
This is the complete third season of "Saturday Night Live" and if you are any kind of fan of this show you have to buy these box sets. This is the second one Universal has sent me to take a peek at and they are phenomenal! Universal has taken great care in the presentation by offering up the complete 90-minute installments and the packaging includes the special guest and musical guest for each episode and the day it aired. You get people like Steve Martin, Hugh Hefner, Ray Charles, Chevy Chase, Christopher Lee, Michael Palin, Richard Dreyfuss and even O.J. Simpson. On top of that you get The Nerds, The Coneheads, Samurai Warrior by John Belushi, Singing King Tut by Steve Martin and a ton more. I know there are die-hard fans of this show out there and I would hate for you to somehow miss these. They really are a nice presentation of a show that has proven to be quite timeless despite its ups and downs. BUY IT AT AMAZON
I skipped this movie because it had that "been there, done that" look about it and I just wasn't interested. A lot of critics liked it to the tune of a 79% at RottenTomatoes though so it must be pretty good. BUY IT AT AMAZON
I just got done reviewing this disc and I must be honest, it doesn't impress. Yeah, the visuals and audio are outstanding. After all, that is all this first Narnia film really had going for it. However, to upgrade is silly considering the only new feature is a dumb game on the second disc and the movie itself just isn't that good. BUY IT AT AMAZON
I will admit that this is in fact a movie. Other than that you are on your own. BUY IT AT AMAZON
What I do know about this film is that it is gory to the unrated stylee. It was directed by Hitman helmer Xavier Gens. It also has a 53% rating at RottenTomatoes, which is not good for a genre film because primarily genre reviewers are going to be the only ones willing to sit through it. BUY IT AT AMAZON
I do know something about this film… It's AWFUL!! Stay away. Stay very far away! BUY IT AT AMAZON
I would have loved to have seen what director Francis Ford Coppola was up to after all these years. I had plenty of chances and I could have even requested the DVD sent to me for review. However, the reviews were so abysmal from sources I trusted I just couldn't do it. BUY IT AT AMAZON
