Limited number of goodies to check out this week

Unfortunately it is a sad week for DVDs as we have only one "must buy" in the bunch. Aside from that we have a crummy videogame adaptation, two actioners and a Jon Voight film. Happy New Year I guess…

MUST BUY
The Golden Globe nominated Showtime series "The Tudors" is a lot of fun, but trust me when I tell you that this is a sex-filled look at the life of Henry VIII. Written by Michael Hirst, who penned the first Elizabeth feature, "The Tudors" stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers stars as Henry and he is just a complete psycho with a ton of power. I am not much of a historian, but I have to believe a lot of liberties have been taken with the truth behind the actual events that inspired this show, but I'll be damned if I didn't enjoy these 11 first season episodes. THE REST
Nope, the third film in the Resident Evil franchise is not a must buy. I know people will shovel it into their shopping carts and continue to feed the beast, but this is one of those occassions consumers can help send a message to Hollywood and not buy their second rate films and demand they make better ones. I know there is not chance in hell of that happening but it was fun to say. BUY IT AT AMAZON
The fact that people enjoyed this movie confuses me to no end. That said, if you like entirely brainless features then pick this up. If you prefer the slightest amount of intelligence from your films then don't. BUY IT AT AMAZON
This is yet another one of Lionsgate's 2007 releases that they did not screen for critics. I would have loved to have seen it since it stars a couple of cool action stars in Jet Li and Jason Statham but someone help me if I spend my hard earned money on it. BUY IT AT AMAZON
This week's final option is another one I didn't get a chance to see. It screened once and I think it managed to stay in theaters for about three days as it accumulated just over $1 million and was gone. The 15% rating at RottenTomatoes also isn't much of a good sign. BUY IT AT AMAZON
