Not a bad week for DVDs, at least a couple to peep
MUST BUYS
This movie is the sure-fire definite must buy of the week. Yup, more than There Will Be Blood and I realize and love Paramount/Miramax advertising that great film all over this site, but I gotta be honest. The Adventures of Baron Munchausen is one of the most entertaining films I have seen in a long, long time. You can read my review of the Blu-ray edition here, but I can tell you now that if you are a fan of film and love the idea of a clever and adventurous comedy pick this one up or at least give it a NetFlix viewing. BUY IT AT AMAZON
There Will Be Blood is a great film, but it is #2 in the Must Buy section primarily because this is a film that is a Must Buy only for the folks that love dark and depressing films. Not like that is all There Will Be Blood has to offer, but if you can't deal with the dirty side of life you can't deal with this movie. I'll admit, Baron Munchausen isn't going to be for everyone either, but it has a whole hell of a lot better chance at appeasing the masses than this one does. We have two reviews of the film from two fellas that loved it, take your pick if you like: David's Review | Domenic's Review — BUY IT AT AMAZON
THE REST
Look at that cover. Who the fuck is picking this direct-to-DVD title up? Can you believe it stars Ving Rhames and Mena Suvari? Talk about a couple of careers gone bad. BUY IT AT AMAZON
I didn't even want to review this title. It just didn't do that much for me when I saw it in theaters and there is no reason to revisit it at home even if it is only 88 minutes long. BUY IT AT AMAZON
If you are feeling so happy that you really need a downer watch this movie, otherwise, never watch this movie. BUY IT AT AMAZON
Never saw it, and didn't want to. BUY IT AT AMAZON
Lazy screenwriting at its very best. Do filmmakers really think people are just going to fork over their money if you promise some blood and guts? Story is vital, even in a genre where blood dominates. BUY IT AT AMAZON
I think this package is 100% bio-degradable. Yay! BUY IT AT AMAZON
This is actually not that bad of a movie, it is just a movie for very young audiences. If you got a youngin' maybe pick it up. BUY IT AT AMAZON
Not even the golden comedy god that is Judd Apatow could steer the stench off this turd… or so I've heard. I never saw it, thought it looked like crap. Word is, I was right. BUY IT AT AMAZON
I just watched this movie last night and should have up an article that is going to be titled something like "The Failures of 'Resurrecting the Champ'". If you are interested you may want to keep an eye out for it because this movie really does fail on an epic level. BUY IT AT AMAZON
