'Hellboy II' leads the week with Sopranos and Scrubs closely behind

Hellboy II: The Golden Army
| I have already made my opinion on this film very well known (just look here, here and here), but to get to the point, I didn't like this movie despite how great it looks. However, for those that did like it, Universal has put together a fantastic array of options when you are thinking about buying it. I reviewed the Blu-ray edition and after sifting through all my complaints you will see that I tell you it is an impressive release; it looks great and has a TON of features. David just wrote his review of the Special Edition DVD and contrary to my opinion, he liked the film so we at RopeofSilicon offer you both sides of the coin in this case. Get his review here.
The release comes on single disc DVD, 3-Disc DVD, Blu-ray and in DVD and/or Blu-ray Collector's Editions. By clicking on the Buy Now link you will be directed to a page with all the buying options. |

Scrubs: The Complete Seventh Season
| I just finished watching this season set of "Scrubs" last night and it is a weird little mish-mash, but I won't go into that here, you can read my full review of the set over here for my complete opinion and discussion on whether, when and where the show will continue for at least one more season. I will tell you I believe any season of "Scrubs" is worth owning, it is one of the better sitcoms over the last 10 years and never seems to get old. | |

JFK (Ultimate Collector's Edition)
| I have made passing references to the Blu-ray edition of JFK when I wrote the articles "Will There Ever be Another 'JFK'?" and "Truth Often Presents a Threat to Power". Both articles basically professed my love for this film which is not only Oliver Stone's best, but is definitely the best political film I have ever seen. I know there are a few classics I have not yet seen, such as The Candidate, but this is a film that will be hard to beat.

New Paramount Centennial Collection
Sunset Boulevard / Sabrina / Roman Holiday
| Paramount sent me all three of these and I fully expect to do a write up on all three within the next week as Sunset Boulevard, Sabrina and Roman Holiday are the first three films released in their brand new Centennial Collection as they celebrate their 100th anniversary and what better time than at the beginning to get in on the ground floor and buy them as they are released?
Each title is going to run you $15.99 at Amazon so it will cost you a little, but if you are a special feature fan these things come packed as they are all 2-disc editions with the film on the first disc and a batch of features on disc two. In the case of Sunset Boulevard the film also comes with a commentary by Ed Shaw (author of "On Sunset Boulevard". The rest of the features are the the standard featurette/making-of doc fair. |

Star Wars: The Clone Wars
| How good was this film? So good it isn't even considered one of the 14 films vying for an animated Oscar. This is to say, "It's not good." It isn't entirely awful, but I wouldn't expect anyone outside of die-hard fans actually enjoying it, and even then I would say it would have to be the truly oblivious die-hard fans that would enjoy it. | |
Sukiyaki Western Django
| Here is an interesting film I certainly recommend all of you at least rent, because while some of you may not enjoy it I do believe others will really, really like it and probably go out and buy it. I didn't necessarily love it, but I did give it a B- review, which is to say it is certainly worth a rental just to see if it is a film for you. You can check out the trailer right here to get a better idea of what you are in for. | |

Beer For My Horses
| I only left this here and not in the "Even More" section below to tell you this thing is showing on TV as well, so before you go buying it check your local listings first. | |
The Cosby Show: 25th Anniversary Commemorative Edition
| This is a title I would traditionally just put in the "Even More" section, but they actually sent it over for review and while there is no chance I would ever be able to actually watch it for review and the set doesn't come with a lot of special features, but for anyone out there that is a fan of "The Cosby Show" this is the set for you.
In terms of features, you get an all new interview with Bill Cosby, a photo gallery, bloopers, making-of featurette and an interview with show director Jay Sandrich. Other extras include a hardcover book that includes the script for the pilot episode of the show and publicity photos throughout and a generic little note from Cosby. Oh, and all eight seasons of the show as well. I grew up on Cosby and really enjoyed the show way back when, but even as I asked other people if they would be interested in owning such a set they all had fond memories of the show, but weren't sure they would ever sit down to watch it again. However, if you are interested the link is right there for you to click away and buy one for yourself in all of its $89.99 glory. |
