Ps: Bale asks the director did he see this and the Director reply´s "I Wasn´t watching." May i ask what the hell was he doing? Shouldn´t director watch a scene while it´s being filmed??

There are too many factors that would go into the situation, therefor making judgment off limits towards christian bale. He is an actor, not a sandwich counter employee. Of course he's going to react the way he did people. Lets be real for a moment.

I totally agree with Jojo. Don't jump to conclusions here. Walking into an actor's sight line might seem like a minor offense to the uninitiated but it is the first thing you learn NEVER to do on a movie set. That Shane Hurlbut did this repeatedly must have been incredibly frustrating to an intense actor like Christian Bale. He is right to call Hurlbut an amateur. The alternative would be to call him an inconsiderate jerk. On a feature film with the budget of this one the crew has the time to prepare for the set-up before the actors arrive. If there is a problem you must wait until after the take to investigate it and fix it. It sounds as though Mr. Hurlbut was repeatedly behaving in a rude and thoughtless manner or he's so insecure about his lighting that he can't sit still and watch the take without going out on set and trying to figure out what's wrong. I've worked on Hollywood film sets for decades and I've yet to see or hear of a director of photography walking out on set during a take to "check the lighting."

Also in agreement with Jojo re: Lily Tomlin. Please see the COMPLETE clip of David O'Russell having his tantrum before you cast blame on Lily Tomlin. She is a professional who was driven to madness by an unprofessional director. Ask George Clooney about David O'Russell,

Anyways, not saying any of it is an excuse for how he acted, because it was very out of line. He should be ashamed of himself. However, you can't fully judge the entire situation based on a 3 minute recording.

You know, Donna, you pretty much made my point for me. The Lilly Tomlin thing was taken out of context, too.

Later, another video was released that showed the director on Tomlin's movie going bat shit crazy, screaming obscenities at Tomlin, basically dressing her down in front of everyone on set, storming around shouting like a mad man — so we have absolutely NO IDEA what really happened in the original Tomlin video to provoke her response.

So you hate Tomlin now because of a video that had no explanation around it.

I have no idea whether Tomlin or Bale are assholes based on a snippet of their lives. I'm sure if we had video of some of the things we've said to people — to our spouses, perhaps — that could prove to be pretty fucking embarrassing, too.

I'm not even a huge Bale fan, but I'm sure as hell not going to judge him based on this.

For all we know, this DP had been disrupting shit left and right and it got to the point where Bale finally just lost it. When you consider that an actor's job is ALL ABOUT CONCENTRATION — especially in an intense scene with intense subject matter — it could be pretty friggin' annoying for somebody to disrupt that concentration, especially if it wasn't for the first time.

And, of course, we have absolutely no idea if Bale went to this guy later on and said, "Jeez, mate, I'm sorry. I really lost my sh*t."

Is Bale's reaction acceptable behavior? As I said, hard to say when it's completely out of context, and we have no idea if the reported reason for the blow up is true. I'd generally say, no, it isn't, but then I wasn't there and have no idea what really triggered it.

But if you think movie sets are all about happy people smiling at each other and having a great time while trying not to go over budget on a huge franchise, then you have absolutely no idea what a movie set is really like.

I smell bullshit in this whole thing, and Bale is in his rights.

I would blame the DP for fueling the fire. What kind of a cinematographer walks into a scene to check the lights, he should make things ready before the camera starts rolling ainnit?

Reminds me of that scene in 'In Bruges' where Ralph Feinnes blames that guy who gets shot in the eye with blanks, telling him that it was his own fault.

i´ve never went that crazy on the set and i dont think i´ll ever will cause it´s a bit rude :) but im just saying that i understand Christian.
