Noyce Directing ‘Salt’ With Tom Cruise Potentially Starring

CIA thriller seems right up Noyce's alley

Phillip Noyce

Wasn’t Phillip Noyce supposed to direct another Jack Ryan film? I remember something like that a while back, but I am sure it was just rumor and disappeared as quickly as it came, but this news isn’t rumor. The former helmer of Clear and Present Danger is set to direct Edwin A. Salt with Tom Cruise potentially starring.

Cruise has stayed near the film for some time and Noyce seems like a good choice to direct the film which casts Cruise as a CIA officer who’s accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy. He must elude capture long enough to clear his name.

Terry George and Peter Berg were both attached to direct at one point and obviously fell off the project. Noyce also directed Patriot Games.
