No 'Blood', 'Bee' or 'Sweeney' on HD DVD

Paramount is ending its HD DVD support in March

Well, if you were looking forward to Sweeney Todd, There Will be Blood or Bee Movie on HD DVD you can go ahead and forget it as none of those films will be making their previously announced HD DVD debuts and neither will The Kite Runner as Video Business reports that the March 11th release of Things We Lost in the Fire and Into the Wild on HD DVD will be the final two HD DVD releases for the studio.

The news comes as less of a surprise than it was that Paramount actually even gave us release dates for the recently announced Sweeney and Blood considering they already announced they were dropping the format and going Blu-ray on the heels of Toshiba announcing it was no longer going to market or develop HD DVD hardware.

If you were hoping this meant Sweeney and Blood on Blu-ray it won't be happening just yet as Paramount is yet to announce any plans for Blu-ray.

Warner Bros. is continuing to release HD DVD titles however as it recently announced a May 13th release of One Missed Call and Universal also hasn't stopped announcing HD DVD titles as Atonement hits shelves on March 18th.
