Nicole Kidman Set to Play a Transexual Married to Charlize Theron

Some headlines do all the work for me

Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron

Here is a film that has Oscar written all over it should director Anand Tucker and his star-studded cast be able to pull it off. Of course it also means disaster if it has even the slightest flaw. Nicole Kidman is set to play Einar Wegener, the world's first post-op transsexual, in the true story adaptation of her and her marriage to Greta Wegener to be played by Charlize Theron. The film is called The Danish Girl.

Lucinda Coxon adapted the screenplay from David Ebershoff's 2000 Viking bestseller telling the story of Danish artists Einar and Greta Wegener. Their marriage took a sharp left turn after Einar (Kidman) stood in for an female model that Greta (Theron) was set to paint. When their portraits become wildly popular in 1920s Copenhagen, Greta encouraged her husband to adopt the female guise. What began as a harmless game led Einer to a metamorphosis and landmark 1931 operation that shocked the world and threatened their love.

Pre-production has begun on the indie film, but no details on a principal photography start date have been disclosed.

Kidman will next be seen in the epic feature Australia on November 26 and was prominently featured in the first official image from the Rob Marshall musical Nine, which I just added yesterday.

Theron was most recently seen in Battle in Seattle and was supposed to be seen this month in The Road, but it got bumped to 2009. She is also in negotiations to star alongside Tom Cruise in The Tourist.

Anand Tucker most recently directed And When Did You Last See Your Father? which very few people saw, but that isn't to say many more say Shopgirl starring Steve Martin, Jason Schwartzman and Claire Danes back in 2005 either. However, that wasn't altogether an awful film, not sure about the other one.

Hmm this is the umpteenth project that Nicole has been attached to recently. I'm not a big fan of either (Nicole seems to always play the same emotionless cold person in every movie and Charlize is just, well boring). Anyway if this actually plays out it sounds interesting.

These Oscar-winning actresses look stunning. I read here (http://www.projectweightloss.com/index.php) about how Charlize maintains her fabulous figure and why she gave up modeling for acting and …wow, talk about strenght!
