I think releasing images before an official trailer certainly takes the pictures out of context. The pic of Bana as the villain is great, but the uniforms look cheap because they are based on uniforms that were cheap, so without live action performances to compare them to it just looks like people dressed up.

I am assuming the trailer will make it all a bit better. The new pic of the bridge, I think, looks pretty good though.

I am a Star Trek fan allthough not of the original series on which this flick is based.
I'm having a little difficulty taking this serious, Chris Pine looks a bit young to be captain of the flagship and Simon Pegg and John Cho I love as actors, I just expect them to start doing silly things.

Those two are good actors so maybe they'll pull it off and maybe the young captain is well explained by the story.
I'll give it a chance but I'm going in with low expectations.

Actually, it's the pic of Bana that caused me the most concern. Looks like a lameass halloween costume.

However, I'm still interested in this movie…. a lot. And I can't wait for a trailer. Although Abrams' fetish for pointless secrecy to the point of of mental illness should be lambasted to no end.

exactly! in that first pic, classic Pegg face, it looks like he's about to dropkick someone in the face!

HAHAHAHA =))
Good one
so you're allso having trouble with the casting?

What's with the whole prequel thing anyway? Ok with Star Wars it was needed and intended from the start (allthough the execution left something to be desired).
Don't people usually want to know what happens next? Instead of getting bassically a feature length back-story that usually fucks with the story that got you into it in the first place.
And the fanatical fanbase of Star Trek falls over every tiny inconsistency (translation: they take it far to serious)

Will someone PLEASE bring back the originals? This is obviously going to be a cheap hack job to cash in ont eh Star Trek legacy for Paramount/CBS. Look ant most of the first and second seasons of the original series from 1966-1968 and you will see great acting… and never mind the cheap tv bugeted sets. This had better have a great story and actors up to the roles .. or it will be another stinker like Star Trek 5!!!!

One other thing… the Ironman movei of this past summer was great because – Number one _ It had a great story. a beginnign a middle and an end! Great actors adding all the little nuances and personalityies to their roles ! one of the facts absoululy LOST on today's generation is how old-school actors analysed their characters backgrounds before commiiting it to film.. Shatner was a shakespearean actor before Trek, Nimoy was a stage actor – his original Spock spock english so carefully and precisely because thats how he reasoned a completely logical being would want to approach it. Back to Ironman.. it worked because R Downey An G. Paltrow added the humainity of themselves to their characters. A factor that no amount of special effects and soap opera acting will bring to the 'New" trek film !!
