Yeah, I did a rather brief overview of the 2-Disc special edition back in '05 (read that here) but have never done a proper review and I don't want to short-change it so maybe right around the time Public Enemies (July 1, 2009) comes out I should throw it in the player and give it its due respect.

Brad im really glad you rewatched this amazing film and gave it a review. Hopefully this will open many peoples eyes to one of Mannshidden gems. This is number 2 on my list of his films and its timelss because of how haunting it is (the driving rang is the one that truly stands out to me) also the amazing phone conversation where we see Pacino on the beach and the very dark blue that mann uses again (Manhunter and Heat he uses it with beaches in them as well) i loved how it was shot wrote and acted. everything about the film is great and i agree with your remarks on Plummer. sadly this movie is overseen and hopefully a new dvd will (like you said) bring in new viewers but as a big fan of Michael Mann and his greatness of action this showed how truly great he is as a film maker. I would be very interested though to read your take on Heat (more then just a quick line here and there that have happened before)
