More Bourne for Damon?
Maybe in a few years
The Bourne Ultimatum hits DVD and HD DVD on December 11th. That film grossed over $225 million domestically and over $404 million worldwide. You would think Universal would be begging Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass to sign up for another one and would have Tony Gilroy locked in a room scribbling away a new script. However, we have heard rumors and speculation that it will be the last film that will at least star Damon in the title role, but that certainly wouldn't hinder the process, at least not if Universal was hoping to have a Bond-style franchise of their own. Then again, is Damon really done?
Speaking with the Associated Press in a story carried over at Yahoo! Damon was posed the question regarding more Bourne films to which he replied, "If Paul Greengrass, maybe years down the road, was interested in doing another one, then I would do it, too. I don't think either of us completely put the character to bed yet."
Of course you haven't, it's a kick ass character and definitely the character that defines Damon's career, to which he admits, "Personally, the character means a lot to me because the character has done so much for my career. You know, it put me in the position where I have a lot more choices of kind of movies I want to make."
Either way, Damon or no Damon, I expect more Bourne down the line. I just hope they keep to the hard-edged thrill ride of the first three.
